Can you help us to reach the 93% of people who have little or no contact with the gospel, through this key role in a large evangelical church in Loughborough? As Associate Rector in this designated Resourcing Church in the Diocese of Leicester you will take on significant leadership responsibilities in encouraging and developing leadership and discipleship.
Emmanuel is a church which sits comfortably within the Open Evangelical Tradition and is open to Charismatic Renewal. There are 250 people on our electoral roll plus around 60 young people, with around 400 adults in total on our database. We have a strong and growing student community, and strong links with our local C of E primary school.
In our role as a Resourcing Church, we are working in partnership with The Good Shepherd Loughborough.
The Good Shepherd
The Good Shepherd Church is also of the Open Evangelical Tradition. Average attendance for Sunday Services is 55; with 80 on the Electoral Roll and 133 in the worshipping community, which includes a very small number of active lay leaders and helpers, within a loyal, stable membership of mainly local, and some very elderly, people. We have a focus on developing worship and linking with the community.
What are Resourcing Churches?
Resourcing Churches are about a disruptive, step change to help us better serve the whole of our parishes, that many more people may come to know the love, purposes and identity which Jesus Christ brings, grow as His disciples and better serve others in response.
Each Resourcing Church has an outline plan for the initial 6 years of the project, for new worshipping communities, fresh expressions of Church and grafts, alongside the ongoing renewal of the existing worshipping community. Resourcing Churches develop church plants that plant churches. It is expected that, in every sense, Resourcing Churches ‘give away’ far more than they ‘receive’ for the sake of the Kingdom of God. Resourcing Churches embody the values of generosity, partnership, audacity and humility.
The Associate Rector is a senior role within the Church, based at Emmanuel Loughborough, and is integral to and at the heart of the Resourcing Church Senior Leadership Team. This is a 3 year fixed-term role.
We seek a person who:
is rooted in the Scriptures, open to the Holy Spirit, grounded in prayer and engaged in worship.
is an inspiring preacher and communicator who can preach into a variety of different contexts and perspectives.
is an empowering leader who is able to grasp the challenge of change and delegate well.
is collaborative and flourishes within teams.
is resilient, dependable and good humoured.
